Hi Elaine, welcome, glad to have you here. I'll have a good look at your blog later - today is unpacking day so it will be tomorrow or the next day. From the first quick look I think I'll like it. I don't know upsi's blog, if you'd like to give me the URL I'll have a look at it too. Thanks for your comment.

Hi. Found your blog on upsi's blogroll. I am an introvert and I found your questions very interesting. I can remember at 5 in kindergarten never being taught how to use scissors and everyone else already knew how to. Then what a relief when I caught up relatively quickly. I can remember the same thing with shampooing my hair--what is the correct way and then when I was old enough to read the shampoo bottle then I felt so relieved. Oh so that is how you do it. I had never really thought about these things before. I have a blog at hopehealing dot wordpress dot com that is meant to help highly sensitive people who are struggling with issues of childhood pain and growing up with narcissistic parents. Please stop by and see what another introvert is talking about. I hope you like it. Thanks for your blog! Elaine

Thanks Chris, I'll watch the youtube (as long as it's not too long - my internet account has limits on how much I can download - things are primitive here in Australia). I'm looking forward to seeing what she has to say.

Hi Evan -- thanks for this share -- I had a lot of similar experiences in my own childhood, in terms of feeling kind of lost as to what the point of everything was, why people wanted me to wear this and say that, and so on. I had some anger about people telling me to do all this stuff without giving me a satisfactory explanation of why it was important.

Recently I watched an interview with a spiritual teacher, Unmani, who described a similar experience in her childhood, and ultimately realized that it was because she retained some consciousness of her nature as all that is, the Self, or whatever you want to call it, and thus people telling her that she was this separate little girl who was supposed to do all this stuff was disconcerting for her. I think you might find it interesting:
