I have a guest post on the Psychology, Philosophy and Real Life blog. It is about what I think of as my bottom line: that compassion and joy (or better yet, compassionate-joyfulness) are good in themselves. They are what justify other things rather than being justified by other things.
I also talk about how some things can be judged in the light of these values (such as technology – not just equipment but intellectual technology (footnotes) and social technology (bureaucracies).
