The other problem with anit-depressants is that (like just about any drug) they can be addictive - especially Effexor in the experience of my friends.  Anti-depressants are not good long-term.  Seeing the two-four weeks of what my friends have gone through coming off them is not nice.  Short-term I think they are a very useful thing.

There was a time in my life when traditional talk therapy was insufficient because I was going through several transitions at the same time and I had to resort to anti depressant therapy.
